Extra Curricular Clubs and Activities

We believe in the power of extra curricular activities to enrich the lives of our pupils. They provide all pupils with the opportunity to experiment with new skills and train existing ones. They are encouraged to build relationships and work as part of a team where communication and support are paramount. Self esteem naturally grows through their time at the club and special relationships are built between teachers and pupils.

A wide range of activities are on offer all year round from school staff and outside providers. The School Council regularly ask their classes about the types of clubs that they would like and we endeavour to meet these demands where possible.

Those clubs from outside providers do incur a cost to parents.

Some of the activities we offer are:

  • Multi-sports
  • Football
  • Recorders
  • Chess
  • Lego club
  • Book club
  • Basketball
  • Board games
  • Volleyball

Our KS2 choir takes place throughout the year and practices at break time.

We offer music tuition – piano, flute, clarinet, guitar.

If your child is engaged in private music tuition outside of school, we will not offer tuition in school to avoid a conflict in teaching styles. This will also ensure that other children have the opportunity to learn an instrument for the first time.

Competitive sports are important at Mornington and our teams regularly represent us at competitive events. We enter football, basketball, swimming, athletic and cross country teams into competitions.
