Welcome to Lace, Boots and Raleigh, our mixed Year 5 and Year 6 classes. Class Lace is taught by Miss Taylor, Class Boots by Mrs Reeves, and Class Raleigh by Mrs Webb and Mrs Sadler.
In upper Key Stage 2, we help children become confident, resourceful learners as they prepare for the next stage of their education.
Children are encouraged to explore subjects in greater depth, ask searching questions and support their opinions with evidence. They encounter increasingly challenging texts, develop their own voice as writers, and apply their mathematical understanding to complex problems. Across the curriculum, they learn to research, evaluate information and communicate their ideas clearly.
As our oldest pupils, children in Years 5 and 6 are encouraged to set a positive example and contribute to school life. We support them in managing their time, organising their work and taking greater responsibility for their learning. We also help them navigate friendships, recognise their strengths and build the resilience they will need as they move towards secondary school.
This half term, our topic is ‘World at War’, in which we will explore the impact of different wars on the UK and the wider world, considering how conflicts have shaped people’s lives and changed societies.
