Year 3/4
Welcome to Class Newstead, Class Wollaton and Class Trent, our mixed Year 3 and Year 4 classes. Class Newstead is taught by Mrs Wheatcroft, Class Wollaton by Mrs Hamilton, and Class Trent by Miss Sensicall.
As children move through lower Key Stage 2, we support them in becoming more independent learners who are ready to build on their existing knowledge and tackle new challenges.
Across the curriculum, we encourage children to think carefully, explain their reasoning and make connections between subjects. They develop their reading comprehension, bring greater detail and imagination to their writing, and strengthen their mathematical fluency and problem-solving skills. Opportunities to investigate, discuss and create help children explore their interests and learn from one another.
We encourage children to organise themselves, take responsibility for their work and reflect on how they can improve. Alongside their academic learning, we help them build friendships, respect different viewpoints and contribute positively to our school community.
Our Learning This Half Term
This half term, our topic is ‘The Living World’, in which we will explore the Earth’s climate zones and the biomes and vegetation belts within them, discovering how climate shapes plant and animal life around the world.
